On April 23 and 24, author Christina Rice visited the Chicagoland area on an Ann Dvorak book tour! On April 23, she appeared at the Patio Theatre in Chicago and introduced The Strange Love of Molly Louvain (1932). This presentation, sponsored by the Northwest Chicago Film Society, featured a 35mm print from the Library of Congress. Over 250 people welcomed Christina while saying goodbye–temporarily, we hope– to the Patio Theatre. (Due to building expenditures, the theatre has gone dark.)

Then on April 24, Christina visited the Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge. We had 148 come out to see her introduce our screening of Scarface (1932). Christina also took questions from the audience– including one about a George Raft Alka-Seltzer commercial!?!

Both the Northwest Chicago Film Society and the Pickwick Theatre Classic Film Series were honored to have Christina as a special guest. Both film programs love Ann Dvorak. We hope our “double dose of Dvorak” will be the first of many more revivals around the country.
