Young FrankensteinRV

“Of all of my films, I am proudest of this one. We set out to make a beautiful period picture, with all of the craftsmanship of James Whale’s 1930s films. And, of course, this time with laughs. My hope was that Young Frankenstein would transport audiences the way I was transported as a kid sitting in the dark in Williamsburg.” ~Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein: The Story of the Making of the Film

One of the great horror spoofs– and one of the most quoted movies of all time– finally comes to Park Ridge! For years, audiences have been requesting this title, and now we will be presenting it at the Pickwick Theatre Classic Film Series for our fifth annual “Halloween Horrorfest.” We are dedicating this screening to the late Gene Wilder.

Young Frankenstein features a wonderful ensemble cast that includes Gene Wilder, Teri Garr, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, and Peter Boyle as the Frankenstein Monster. Universal monster buffs will appreciate the film’s attempt to recreate the look and feel of the original Frankenstein films of the 1930s. In addition to the moody, black and white cinematography, Young Frankenstein features the same Kenneth Strickfaden electrical equipment that had been used in the earlier James Whale films!
