Several hundred patrons came out for our 50th anniversary celebration of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) on May 15, 2019! This was our fourth James Bond event at the Pickwick Theatre, and once again everyone who attended had a great time. The love of Bond was everywhere!
We would like to thank James Bond author/historian Raymond Benson (for introducing the film) and Ian Fleming Foundation Board Member Colin Clark (for talking about the IFF and bringing in the “Wounded Warriors” as guests). We also thank actor George Lazenby for sending us a special written message for his fans in Chicago (read by Raymond).
Thank you to organist Jay Warren, who posed the question “Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?” on the Mighty Wurlitzer. We are equally grateful to Allison, Beka, Jerry, Kelly, Linda, Elizabeth, and the theatre staff and management. Thank you to Maria Melnyk for capturing this fun event with her outstanding photography. For more great images, please visit our Photo Archive.
And finally, we are extremely grateful to Len Johnson who, with Colin Clark, built us a mini-stage which will be used for future guest appearances.
James Bond will return to the Pickwick Theatre!
We’re glad George was able to join us, but he was feeling a bit stiff…
