“It provides the most observant study of working journalists we’re ever likely to see in a feature film. And it succeeds brilliantly in suggesting the mixture of exhilaration, paranoia, self-doubt, and courage that permeated The Washington Post as its two young reporters went after a presidency.” ~ Roger Ebert
Back in the day, politicians were held accountable for their crimes. Now, they get presidential immunity or pardons. Despite the preponderance of political scandal in our modern society, All the President’s Men (1976) remains a relevant film for our time. It stands as a testament to the importance of a free press in America. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman star as Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the two Washington Post reporters who broke the story of the Watergate scandal that led to President Nixon’s resignation. Film critic Michael Phillips will join us to discuss the film’s production as well as its importance nearly fifty years after its release. Join us on November 5, 2025, as we honor the late Robert Redford with one of the most critically-acclaimed films of the 1970s.
