Set in 1940s Indiana, A Christmas Story is the tale of nine-year-old Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), who wants only one thing for Christmas: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and “this thing which tells time”(a sundial). Ralphie’s wish is dismissed by his mother, his teacher Miss Shields, and even a department store Santa Claus, all giving him the same warning: “You’ll shoot your eye out.” The film, told in a series of nostalgic vignettes by director Bob Clark (and based on the recollections of writer Jean Shepherd), has become an American classic, often airing continuously on cable stations for twenty-four hours just before Christmas. Here is your opportunity to see it theatrically on the MEGA-screen.
