Thank you to the 300+ movie fans who came out and supported us on Opening Night. Our screening of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) received a huge ovation from an audience of young and old. One of the nicest comments we overheard came from an 11-year-old boy who said afterward it was the best movie he had ever seen. Many like him were viewing the film for the first time. This made the experience of showing it on a big screen all the more rewarding. Our program for the night also included live prelude music by organist Jay Warren of the Silent Film Society of Chicago and a Donald Duck cartoon, “Grand Canyonscope” (1954), which was part of the original theatrical release of 20,000 Leagues.
Every film screening is a community event for us, so we hope you can make the next one!
