Here is a nice email we received shortly after our Blues Brothers screening at the Pickwick Theatre. Thank you, T.J!
Hi Matt,
I just wanted say thank you for putting on this series and this season has been amazing!
I brought my son (15) and daughter (12) to Dr No and the Blues Brothers. My kids had zero preconceived notions, had no previous experience with these characters, and basically walked in cold, and my kids were absolutely 100% blown away.
Last night was electric, and eyeballing it, it seemed like a larger crowd than Dr No. You are setting the bar high – and it has been so much fun introducing my kids to these classics! The conversations we’ve had regarding the three blind mice and how the practical effects in Dr No/Blues Brothers feel compared to all the CG superhero films we’ve seen.
Thank you so much,
-TJ Lomas
And here are some recent comments concerning our Park Ridge Public Library film series, which concluded in May:
1. Re: Movies – Enjoyable series of comic films hosted by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Always insight into film background. Paul E.
2. Thank you for so much hard work through great struggle in making the Classic Film Fest FINALLY happen. What about something built around a circus theme or music (say jazz & blues) in coming years. Matthew is a great resource for the Park Ridge Library. Tim G.
3. Fantastic program. Love how there is a focus on one genre of film and the program includes rare titles that people either rediscover or see for the first time. Matthew’s summary of the film puts it in the historical context and makes for such a pleasant overall experience. Thank you for all the hard work and thought that you put into these presentations. David M.
4. Screwball Comedy Series – Matthew does a great job putting together the various film festivals over the past years. He always adds extra recordings of interviews and adds his own interpretations too which makes all the films more meaningful. Excellent films. Always a fun evening. Thank you! Barbara G.
