Join us on February 11, 2026, when we remember director Rob Reiner with a pre-Valentine’s Day screening of When Harry Met Sally… (1989). This hit rom-com, which received an Oscar nomination for Nora Ephron’s screenplay, explores whether men and women can truly be just friends. It follows the evolving relationship between cynical Harry (Billy Crystal) and optimistic Sally (Meg Ryan) over many years and chance encounters in New York City. They debate love, sex, and their undeniable connection– leading to a famous New Year’s Eve realization about their relationship. With its romance set in New York, the film recalls the best of Woody Allen– but with more mainstream popularity. When Harry Met Sally… features a solid supporting cast with stars like Carrie Fisher, a memorable soundtrack by such artists as Harry Connick, Jr, and one of the most memorable scenes ever set in a delicatessen! However, the film’s greatest assets are Billy Crystal–in his prime as a comic actor– and a young Meg Ryan, who would go on to be the face of romantic comedy in the 1990s.
