Who is the special guest? Actor Keir Dullea, who played Commander Dave Bowman in 2001, will be our guest. He will be joined by his wife, actress Mia Dillon. This is the first time we’ve had the main star from a film as our guest. Additionally, film historian/author Raymond Benson will be with us to interview Keir onstage at 7 PM. Raymond is also a friend of the Stanley Kubrick family.

About Keir Dullea
Since 1957, Keir Dullea has appeared in more than 25 feature films including David and Lisa, The Hoodlum Priest, The Fox, Madame X, Black Christmas, Bunny Lake is Missing, and of course 2001: A Space Odyssey. For his role in David and Lisa, Keir received a Golden Globe Award as 1963’s “New Star of the Year.” Keir has made more than 50 guest appearances on television series including Route 66, Bonanza, The Starlost, Law & Order, Castle, and Damages. He currently appears on the Hulu series, The Path. Broadway credits include Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, Butterflies Are Free and P.S. Your Cat is Dead. He will be seen this year, in the Polish film fantasy, Valley of the Gods, with John Malkovich and Josh Hartnett.

Will Keir be signing autographs? Yes. Any item you bring for Keir to sign will be $40. He will be selling his own 8x10s for $40 and an 8×10 2-shot, also signed by Gary Lockwood, for $80. “The Red Room” image- turning off HAL– is larger than an 8×10, and will be $50. A 10×14 photo of Keir and Gary in the space pod, with HAL in the background, will be $100 for the 2 signatures. Payment can be made by cash or through PAYPAL. Selfies are $20 but are free with purchase. Keir will be in the theatre lobby before and after the screening.

What time should I be at the Pickwick Theatre? The matinee (feature film only) starts at 1 PM. (The VIP “Meet & Greet” will run from 4:30-5:45 PM.) For the evening screening, doors will open at 6 PM. Keir Dullea will be in the theatre lobby from 6 PM to 7 PM. He will take the stage shortly after 7 PM. The film is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM but may start late.

What are the “VIP” tickets? For $75, you will have an opportunity to visit with Keir earlier in the day. The Meet & Greet is planned for the Pickwick Theatre (5 S. Prospect Ave., Park Ridge). Keir will be meeting with fans from 4:30-5:45 PM. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be supplied by our friends at Pazzi Di Pizza. The VIP “commemorative” ticket also includes admission to the screening, a signed photo taken with Keir, and first access to theatre seating. The professional photos will be taken starting at 5 PM. These will be high-quality photos, color-corrected and processed within an hour at a Park Ridge lab. Once they are printed and dropped off, Keir will sign them for our guests; what is not signed during the Meet & Greet will be signed in the theatre lobby. (NOTE: Keir will only be signing the photos taken by our photographer at the Meet & Greet for free. Other memorabilia can be signed in the theatre lobby at the standard fee of $40 per item. ) From 5:45 PM- 6PM, we will be letting the VIP guests into the theatre before we open the doors to the general public at 6 PM. NOTE: VIP tickets are limited to 50 in number and are only available at the Pickwick Theatre box office. We cannot hold any tickets. Tickets must be shown at time of entry (4:30 PM) and during photo shoot (5 PM).

Why are the VIP tickets $75? The Meet & Greet tickets are $75 because we did not raise the admission price for this event. General admission remains $12/$10 advance. There are no community sponsors, so the purchase of a VIP ticket helps support the program– and future events like it.

Will theatre organist Jay Warren perform pre-show music on the Mighty Wurlitzer before 7 PM? No. Due to prior commitments, Jay’s season debut at the Pickwick Theatre has been delayed. We look forward to having Jay back in November! At 6:55 PM, Program Host Matthew Hoffman will address the audience, announce the October film screening, and introduce the evening’s guests.

Keir Dullea, as Commander Dave Bowman, will visit Park Ridge on Sept. 18!
